Our team
Sarah McFadden (she/her)
General Manager
As GM for Kelmarna, Sarah is tasked with leading and supporting the team in bringing our strategy to life.
She manages all the key resources of the organisation, and helps guide ongoing improvements that strengthen our systems and processes.
She also takes the lead on new projects, and relationship management within the wider community and our stakeholders.
Adrian Roche (he/him)
Community and Site Manager
The face of Kelmarna for much of our community, Adrian first gardened at Kelmarna as a volunteer in the 1990s, and has been working here in various roles for nearly 20 years.
Currently you will generally find Adrian selling you produce in our shop, harvesting restaurant orders, or supporting our therapeutic gardeners.
He also takes care of our animals, food forest, and maintenance on the farm.
Sarah Moss-Baker (she/her)
Market Garden Manager & Layer Hen Coordinator
As Market Garden Manager, Sarah is responsible for planning and overseeing all our vegetable production, across both the original garden site and the new market garden area. She also leads the delivery of our Farmhands volunteering and training programme.
As Layer Hen Project Coordinator she’s managing our hens and their egg production.
Oliver Brockie (he/him)
Soil Factory Coordinator
Oliver is our chief composter, managing Soil Factory, our community composting social enterprise.
In this role he supports local businesses and residents to join our circular local food loop, reclaiming organic resources and creating living compost to support our food production.
Ruth Gill (she/her)
Volunteer Coordinator & Market Gardener
Ruth is responsible for welcoming volunteers to our team, and leads our Open Garden Volunteering sessions at Kelmarna, supporting our community to get their hands dirty, contribute to our work, and learn regenerative gardening skills.
She also works in the market garden, contributing to the growing of produce for our CSA scheme.

Nick Morrison (he/him)
Chairperson & Trustee
Nick Morrison is the founder of the sustainability consultancy, Go Well Consulting, who advise businesses on how to become circular and regenerative.
Nick’s vision is for every New Zealand community to have a local regenerative organic farm and composting hub to support connected communities, restored public health, and a food system that operates in harmony with the real world.
Nick is the current Chair of Trustees.
Derek Broadmore (he/him)
Trustee
Derek Broadmore is a lawyer, farmer, and organics advocate. Derek established one of the first specialist employment law firms in New Zealand. He has had a long interest in environmental issues and was an early Director of the Environmental Defence Society. In 1985 Derek and his wife Ros purchased a farm in the Wairarapa that they managed organically from the outset, and it was certified organic in the 1990s.
Derek has been on the Councils of both BioGro and the organic umbrella group Organics Aotearoa NZ, served as Chair for each of those organisations, as well as represented the organic sector at the Royal Commission on Genetic Modification. Upon moving to Auckland, Derek helped establish the Auckland Organic Business Collective. Currently he works as a consultant within the wider organic sector.
Olivia Coote (she/her)
Trustee
Olivia Coote’s work background is in graphic design and marketing, and she connected with Kelmarna through her work at Kōkako Organic Coffee.
Olivia’s vision for a thriving Aotearoa is one where the partnership outlined in Te Tiriti O Waitangi is upheld, where whenua is respected and regenerative organic farming is the norm.
John Kelleher (he/him)
Trustee
John Kelleher is Senior Lecturer in Professional Cookery at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in Auckland.
He is an active member of the New Zealand Chefs Association and represented New Zealand as part of the NZ Culinary Olympic Team 2016, and was president of Bocuse d’Or Team New Zealand 2016 to 2023, a non-profit organisation. When John isn’t teaching he is busy with national Awards Judging roles and is part of the Kelmarna Events Committee.
Maryjane Bell (she/her)
Treasurer & Trustee
Maryjane Bell is the owner of a local family-run New Zealand furniture manufacturing company, and brings a wealth of experience gained through involvement in the day-to-day running of a small business, which includes planning, production, and managing business accounts.
Maryjane became involved with Kelmarna as she enjoys being part of a community-based team and appreciates the beauty and tranquility that Kelmarna Community Farm brings to her neighbourhood.
Maryjane has held the position of Treasurer since 2016.
Chris Morrison (he/him)
Trustee
Chris Morrison has comprehensive experience across the ethical business sector in NZ.
He was the Co-founder of Phoenix Organics. He is currently is the Co-founder of Karma Drinks and All Good Bananas.
He’s also held Chair positions for the Sustainable Business Network and Bio-Gro, and is currently the Chair of Organics Aotearoa NZ, and Director at Kōkako.
He’s a passionate advocate for regenerative organic farming and all things sustainable.
