Growing Together is a vibrant account of our first 40 years as Auckland’s pioneering urban organic farm. Co-authored by Jo-Anne Hazel and Adrian Roche and packed with wonderful images, this book traces Kelmarna’s journey from a visionary experiment in 1981 to a thriving hub of sustainable food production, education, and therapeutic connection.

We wrote this book to honour Kelmarna’s story – the history, the land, the vision, and the mahi of everyone who helped shape it over the years. We are proud that Growing Together is printed locally in Tāmaki Makaurau and independently published by Kelmarna.
